The following is a “found poetry” poem. It uses words from the Tea Party chapter in Alice in Wonderland.
There was a tree in the house,
when we were asleep we didn’t notice it,
and on good days we talked over its head.
We told the tree,
“No room! No room!”
The tree thought, “There’s plenty.”
One day, we found a dormouse and a hare
sleeping in the roots. They didn’t know it was our tree.
And we thought, “the tree wants cutting.”
The tree opened its eyes wide.
We said, “we shall have some fun now.”
and the dormouse and the hare ran.
Then we made a beautiful wood table,
to join the wood of wooden tables in our house,
and on the wall we hung the dormouse and the hare.
